Reigning Giro d’Italia 2023 champion Primož Roglič has expressed his excitement over the news that the 2025 edition of the prestigious cycling race will kick off in Albania. In a video message shared on social media, the Slovenian cyclist said he’s eager to visit the country for the first time and take part in what he hopes will be a spectacular start to the race.
“I’m very excited that the start will be in Albania,” said Roglič. “I’ve never been there before, so I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve heard many beautiful things about Albania. What I definitely expect is a very tough race for us cyclists. I hope it will be a real spectacle, with lots of people and a fantastic start across the first three stages.”
The 2025 Giro d’Italia will mark the first time the race begins in Albania, further internationalizing one of cycling’s most iconic tours.
Roglič, who claimed his third Grand Tour title with his 2023 Giro win, will be aiming for his sixth Grand Tour victory in 2025, setting up a highly anticipated clash with fellow Slovenian and 2024 Tour de France winner Tadej Pogačar.
