Romanian vacationer seriously injured after jumping headfirst into Ksamil beach

27 year old man jumping headfirst in rocky beach
A Romanian vacationer was injured today in the sea after jumping headfirst into one of the beaches of Ksamil.

The 38-year-old man, Dumitru Macanu, was urgently transported to the hospital in Saranda, where the doctors found a fracture in the neck and paralysis of the limbs, local media reports.

He was then transported by helicopter to the Trauma hospital in Tirana for specialized medical assistance.

This is not an isolated case, but it is the second case within a week. Another similar incident happened 6 days ago were a vacationer from Tepelena suffered injuries after jumping headfirst into the sea.

It is worth noting that the beach of Ksamil and especially the coast of the Ionian Sea in Albania is rocky and prior knowledge of the terrain is necessary to jump from the heights into the sea.
