'Christian Albanian must be converted if wants to marry a Muslim girl' Kosovar imam says

A Muslim parent from Kosovo asked the Kosovar Imam Shefqet Krasniqi what he should do, since his daughter was married to a Christian Albanian.

But the imam's response was sudden and very serious. Shefqet, said that it is better for his daughter to die than to marry a Christian because according to him the girl had "given up".

He advises the parent to put pressure on his doughter that she can marry the Christian Albanian only if the latter converts to Islam.

We remind that according to recent statistics about 25% of the population in Albania are Christians (Orthodox and Catholic), while Kosovo has used the Muslim religion also as a political instrument to oppose the Serbian occupation.

Shefqet Krasniqi has completed primary school in his hometown, and high school in the Madrasa "Alauddin" - in Pristina.

In 1986 he went to Medina, Saudi Arabia, where he completed his studies at the Faculty of Arabic Language and Literature.

Shefqet is honored in Kosovo where 5.5 km from the center of Pristina there is a road called "Shefqet Krasniqi".
