Serbia sends protest note to Albania for Cakaj after he Compared Vucic with Hitler's propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels

Serbia has formally sent a protest note to Albania over the comment made by Acting Foreign Minister Gent Cakaj on President Aleksandar Vucic's statement on the Recak massacre.

Vucic denied that what happened in Racak in 1991 was about a massacre but Cakaj reacted harshly on December 6 with a status on his Facebook account, not only saying that Vucic behaves like Nazi Germany's propaganda minister, Joseph Goebels, but also said his denial is a criminal act.

But Serbia a day after the statement appeared to have reacted and sent a note of protest to Albania, noting that:

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia expresses its respect to the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Belgrade and expresses its fiercest protest on the occasion of the shameful statement of the Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, who compares the President of the Republic (Serbia) with Goebbels.

Such statements do not in any way contribute to the efforts we are making to advance the relations between our two countries and the overall relations in the region. Serbia's MFA expects Albania to condemn these statements and distance itself from them. The Serbian MFA takes this opportunity to reiterate its high respect for the Albanian Embassy,” reads the official letter from the Serbian authorities.
