The Director-General of Kosovo Police, Rashit Qalaj, in a press conference from Gjilan, said that about 100 members of the Kosovo Police have psychic problems and that they are currently undergoing treatment.

Qalaj said that as a result of the lack of a Police Law, they should be kept at work and not dismissed.

"Many police officers have psychic problems," said the police director.

"Due to the lack of law we have to keep them on duty," Qalaj added.

He has shown that over 100 police officers have psychic problems and are currently undergoing treatment.

This joint conference was also attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Agim Veliu and the Mayor of Gjilan, Lutfi Haziri.

We remind that on Tuesday afternoon, the policewoman Valdete Bllaca killed four members of her family and eventually killed herself.

As confirmed by police sources, the police officer in question had already suffered psychiatric problems and had recently undergone psychiatric treatment. However, she was never suspended from work but was only proposed to step down.

As a result of this tragedy on Tuesday evening, the Kosovo Police Inspectorate has recommended the suspension of the Kosovo Police chain of command in Gjilan.
