Ramush Haradinaj has resigned as chairman of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AFK). His decision came as a result of the announcement of the party's internal elections.

However, Haradinaj will continue to hold this post until the new AAK Assembly. In the new AFK mayoral elections, the principle of a one-vote delegate will apply.

Haradinaj told Kosovo media that he will not face just only one candidate in the new elections, but 100 other candidates.

In parallel, he announces that the AFK has set new criteria for party organization including 5 separate branches in Pristina.

Haradinaj continues to be Kosovo's acting prime minister following his resignation in June. In the October 6 elections, the AFK in coalition with the Social Democratic Party of Kosovo received about 11.5% of the vote, which translates into 14 parliamentary seats.
