Swiss support, 1.4 million euros for earthquake victims in Albania
Following the November 26 earthquake, a swift response has come from Switzerland to Albania's call for support, which has brought relief to over 5,200 affected residents.

Earthquake support in Albania amounts to over 1m euros, while a 450,000-euro fund has been earmarked for rebuilding the health centers.

"Swiss support for the earthquake was fast, efficient and comprehensive," says Swiss Ambassador to Tirana Adrian Maître.

“The Humanitarian Aid Team in Bern, Embassy and our projects coordinated did their best to help the most affected people by the devastating earthquake of November 26. Also, following a request from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection we agreed to add over 450,000 Euros for the reconstruction of some health centers in the affected areas”, states Ambassador Maître.

More support from Switzerland will be given based on the needs assessment to be carried out by the Government of Albania together with international partners in January 2020. The Embassy will decide on possible adaptations to the Swiss cooperation program based on this assessment.
