The head of the Turkish Football Federation, Nihat Ozdemir, stated that Turkey aims to host the UEFA 2028 European Football Championship, another target after its bid for the 2024 European Championship.

“We competed to be the host country for EURO 2024, but our rival Germany won the ticket to host the tournament. Our goal is to be the host of EURO 2028 and we will organize it properly,” Ozdemir said.

Turkey and Germany were the candidate countries to host EURO 2024, but on September 27, 2018 the UEFA Executive Committee selected Germany as the host country for this tournament.

"We are ready for new arrangements as the 2019 UEFA Super Cup will be a very good reference for us," Ozdemir said.

Turkey's Vodafone Park in Istanbul last night hosted the 2019 UEFA Super Cup match between English clubs of Liverpool and Chelsea, where the Reds won with the score 5-4 on penalty kicks.
