Le Monde: Coca-Cola paid 8 million euros to Dietologists, nutritionists and sports practitioners to hide the truth

According to a investigation of the French newspaper Le Monde, the American company 'Coca-Cola' has spent eight million euros in France to influence health professionals and researchers in the health sector.

According to Le Monde, the goal is to divert the attention from the effects that can affect in our health the gas drinks and sugary drinks.

"Since 2010, Coca-Cola has distributed over 8 million euros to several experts and medical organizations, but also sports or spectacle events," the newspaper writes, as in France and other countries, these funding in most cases go for sponsorship, not for scientific work.

According to Le Monde, the entire investigation of the multinational company's lobbying was published in 2015 by the New York Times. Faced with this scandal, the firm promised transparency by publicizing the list of activities it has funded in the US.

"In France, the insistence of the NGO Foodwatch forced Coca-Cola to publish these in April 2016. It is precisely this information made available since then, examined in detail.

"Dietologists, nutritionists or sports practitioners, most of the eighteen people mentioned and got the money are professionals in the health field," Le Monde writes.
