Cardiovascular diseases are killing Albanians; 3800 people gets stroke in one year
 

 Basic health check data at the age of 35-70 years old have highlighted morbidity in the Albanian population.

Cardiovascular diseases are ranked first. In the second place, endocrine diseases include diabetes and in the third place lung diseases.

And for the first time from check-ups, new cases have been identified within a year, involving 388,000 people with cardiovascular disease and 3800 people suffering from stroke in one year. There are estimated about 133 patients per 100 thousand inhabitants.

Based on these data it results that cities like Korça, Fier and Berat have the highest incidence of patients with cardiovascular problems, with the lowest incidence being cities such as Tirana, Durrës and Vlora.

According to doctors this is related to improving the lifestyle and the care of the citizens for themselves. However, hypertension is considered to be the greatest killer of Albanians.

"This disease affects all organs, the heart, kidneys and eyes," says Artan Goda, chief of cardiology service.

53% of Albanian deaths are caused by cardiovascular diseases and only 16.4% are caused by cancerous diseases.
