Saimir Pirgu: It takes me 200,000 performances to recover the Albania's image because of a burnt tire
Saimir Pirgu

The Albanian tenor Saimir Pirgu emitted his magic on the scene of the Palace of Congress in Tirana, on the gala evening of the Diaspora Summit. His voice has rumbled in the scenes of Europe, America and Asia, but at home the sensation is completely different.

In an interview to the Albanian television Top Channel, among other things, he says:

"It was a special pleasure, especially the fact that besides the Albanian public, there were many of the diaspora who are already following me wherever they are. But, nevertheless, in your territory. In your house. In the home of the diaspora in Tirana or in Albania, is always a pleasure and the public always has a different focus," says Pirgu.

Saimir, of course, what happens in Albania has a great impact on Albanians living outside the borders. Do you have a perception, a message about the current state of affairs?

I'm sorry, but this perception of foreign media is synchronized as if Albania was Medieval. It's been over 20 years. It is the responsibility of the Albanian politics. And I speak of all political fractions, for these things to not be repeated again. Because the image projected to Albania is very serious. And it takes me 200,000 performances to recover a burnt tire that happened in Lushnje 10 years ago and is happening today in Tirana.
