Today is an opportunity to exercise your right to protest. However this right should be exercised in a peaceful manner; violence undermines democracy.

We call on all to show restraint, to respect democratic institutions and the principle of peaceful protest.

While the Protest has again degenerated into acts of violence and scuffle in front of the Albanian Parliament, the President of the Republic, Ilir Meta has also reacted.

The latter said that he is following the situation with concern and has called for the parties to distance themselves from violence and provocations, and to protest peacefully.

"The President of the Republic is following the situation with concern. He calls for peaceful demonstration and preservation of the calm. He asks to all to avoid confrontation and stay away from provocations," Meta said in his message.

We recall that President Meta was on an official visit to Azerbaijan, which he closed early to return to Tirana last night and to closely follow the political developments.
