Tirana Police refuses to give permit to Democratic Party to hold protests without a clear deadline

Two days before the announced protest before the Prime Minister's Office, Tirana Police has denied to Democratic Party (DP) their demand for the permit to held protests without a deadline.

DP in their request to the police required that the permit for the protest be without a set deadline of when will end. But the request is refused with the argument to specify the date when the protest will end.

While another problem in the request for permission submitted by the DP are the coordinates.

DP requested permission to protest on the four streets surrounding the Prime Minister's Office, the "Dëshmorët e Kombit" boulevard, at the square in front of the Prime Minister's Office, the garden before the Pyramid and the "Ismail Qemali" street next to the Prime Minister's Office.

But, according to the blue headquarters, Tirana police refused the permission on the coordinates requested by the DP with the argument that the space between the Prime Minister's Office, at the "Ismail Qemali" street will be the territory where the police and the Republic's Guard services will be deployed.

According DP, the police argument is unbased in law and inexplicable, as the police can not, according to them, determine the places where the protests will take place.

A few days ago the State Police voiced the concern that the protests could include individuals with criminal precedents aimed at destabilizing the country, while the US, the EU and other diplomatic missions in Albania have called on the opposition to avoid the violence.
