EU gives 2.8m euros for strengthening the Albanian administration

Within the ongoing support of the European Union (EU) of public administration reform of Albania, the first phase of the project "Implementation of the Civil Service Reform in Public Administration" funded by IPA 2014 funds was launched today.

These funds, which amount to a total of 2.8 million euros to be used over the next 30 months with the support of European experts, are aimed at further strengthening the governance and efficiency of the public sector by strengthening the Albanian public administration based on professionalism, meritocracy, and by providing control and oversight mechanisms over public administration to ensure citizens' rights and expand information.

Present at this event was Deputy Prime Minister Senida Mesi, who focused on the importance of this project in terms of public administration reform as one of the 5 key priorities of our country's EU integration.

"A sound public administration is needed to face the challenges ahead, such as justice reform, anti-corruption, citizen-centered public service reform, and so on. We want an administration that is not only responsive by providing services with professionalism, but we also want a depoliticized administration. The launch of this project has to do with this element, of course," Mesi said in her speech.
