Edi Rama to Greek media: there is no hostility among Greeks and Albanians

Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama has considered as "historic and traditional" the relations between Albania and Greece.

"It's a historic and traditional relationship of neighborhood, and as always happens with its neighbors, it's not all that's perfect. We know this from our region, with every neighbor, whether in the village or in the city, or between countries, is always the same relationship," Rama said in an interview with the Greek State Agency ANA-MPA.

"You can fully understand this, if you look at a football match between your neighbors, it's like ... war," he said laughing.

"We are very eager to improve this relationship," Rama said.

In the end, he has said that sometimes "there are things that are accidentally negative".

"They happen, but we have to face these things," he said.

"But foremost it is a fact that the relationship between the two countries is now good and there is no hostility among peoples," he added.

"Greeks love Albania, Albanians love Greece. The rest is just politics," said Rama.

He has claimed that he plans to meet with Prime Minister Tsipras, but has not said when the meeting is scheduled to take place.

"We are expected to meet soon. I do not know where, in Tirana or Athens, but we are expected to meet soon. We are in a process of intensive dialogue and discussion on many issues that cover many years, as well as other issues that have never been fully addressed, courageous and resolute to resolve. I believe we are very close to solving these issues..." Edi Rama concluded.
