Albanian President Ilir Meta has not decreed the new Interior Minister of Albania SanderLleshi, saying he has no faith in handing over to him the post of minister.
The Albanian Constitution leaves the President of the Republic 7 days time limit for appointing the minister.The constitution does not explicitly envisage, in any line of the cases of non-decree of a nomination proposal for members of the cabinet.
Last year, former President Bujar Nishani, who publicly appeared against the nomination of Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafaj, however, acknowledged that he had no power to reject it.
Lleshi was nominated by Prime Minister Edi Rama as the first candidate to take the place of Fatmir Xhafaj, the latter resigned a few days ago.
