The European Parliament suspends the chief of office in Greece on charges of financial fraud

The European Parliament announced today the suspension of the head of the liaison office in Greece and two of its co-workers under investigation by the European anti-counterfeiting agency (OLAF).

"Budget control begun to raise questions about the legality of certain transactions. The European Parliament launched an internal investigation and considered it necessary to address to OLAF," explained Parliament's deputy spokeswoman Marjorie van den Broeke.

OLAF has launched an official investigation and the Parliament suspended these three people. No information is provided on the nature and amount of transactions that are the subject of the investigation.
