There are 700,000 tobacco users in Albania. Former RIP expert Roland Shuperka, with a 25-year experience in this institution, during an interview to Balkanweb by the journalist Erjon Skendaj, says that the studies relating to smokers in Albania are abusive and unobtrusive.

"In Albania there are about 700 thousand tobacco smoker, which consume of an average of 19.7 cigarettes per day. In Albania are consumed over 5,000 tons per year. It is a daily product. While customs clearance is too small. Clearly nearly 3,000 tons a year, while 2,000 tons are lost.

The lost of state budget is around 70 million euros annually only from uncontrolled tobacco trade." Said Shuperka.
