Switzerland gives to Albania 8.2m euros in a agreement for local government

 Albania and Switzerland signed two agreements worth of 8.2m euros for relating government and economic development.

Deputy Prime Minister Senida Mesi met with Ruth Huber, Head of the Department for Co-operation with Eastern Europe in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland.

At the meeting, Mesi and Ambassador Huber talked also about the support of the Swiss Government regarding cases of civil emergencies and natural disasters.

After signing the two agreements, in her welcoming speech, while emphasizing the long-term cooperation and more than 25 years of Albania with the Swiss government, Mesi stopped at 2 projects considering them as very important and underlining the fact that the previous phases proved to be very successful.

Among other things, Mesi thanked to the Swiss Cooperation Strategy for Albania for the years 2018-2021, which was recently introduced, and stressed that the long-term cooperation between the two countries is a clear evidence that the Swiss government is there to help and supporting Albania in all its initiatives and the latter is fully committed to meeting the objectives.

While the Ambassador Ruth Huber, congratulating Albania's reforms so far achieved through Swiss and international support such as the Territorial and Administrative Reform, said: "I am pleased to be here today and to sign with you 2 agreements for 2 projects funded by Switzerland. At the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), we are always happy to join forces and efforts with friendly governments. Moreover, Albania is for us one of the 4 priority states."

Albania is a priority country in Swiss international co-operation. While currently, Switzerland remains one of the largest bilateral donors for our country.
