Serbs blocked the road in Mitrovica after Djuric's arrest

Serbs in northern Kosovo have practiced again their familiar method of road blockade in Mitrovica.

Kosovo police and customs officers, who have started work at the border crossing with Serbia in Jarina, north of Kosovo, have not arrived there, because Serbs blocked the road in Rudar village near Zvecan.

Barricades on the streets were put up in their protest related to the arrest of the Director of the Office for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia, Marko Djuric.

The practice of blocking roads by Serbs in northern Kosovo is well known. After the Kosovo's independence, Serbs have often blocked the roads in the north of the country. They had also burned the provisional facilities of the Kosovo Police and Customs, opposing the extent of Kosovo's sovereignty in this part of the country, inhabited by a Serb majority.

Kosovo police and customs officers have been transported for a long time by KFOR to this passage.
