5.2 Richter magnitude earthquake hits Albania

  A powerful earthquake occured in several Albanian cities at about 15.53 minutes on Saturday.

The earthquake was of 5.2 magnitude of Richter scale with the epicenter in Kurbnesh, Mirdita, about 55km from Tirana.

The strong waverings that have caused panic among citizens have been felt in the capital and some other cities of the country such as Elbasan, Kruja, Laç, Bulqiza, Lezha, Durrës, Shkodër and Kukës.

The European Seismological Center also reported that the shifts were verified at 15:53, 55 km north of Tirana, 32 km east of Lezha and 5 km northwest of Kurbnesh.

Quake earthquakes have been felt in cendet Albania, in Kosovo, Montenegro and Serbia.

Mirdita Mayor Ndrec Deda says he has communicated with the residents of the Kurbn unit's administrator and confirmed that there are no people injured.
