Albanians and Macedonians, as the two biggest communities in the country, are divided in terms of the Euro Atlantic integration of FYR Macedonia.
This is also reflected in the survey conducted by the Institute for Democracy and Civil Society in Skopje, where there are strong differences between Macedonians and Albanians as far as perceptions on Euro Atlantic processes are concerned.
According to the survey, 75% of Albanians support the accession of the country in the EU by making concessions about the name dispute with Greece. Meanwhile, 77,8% of Macedonians are in favor of the accession in the EU, but by making no concessions whatsoever about the national identity.

Over 47% of respondents declared that FYR Macedonia is not prepared to be integrated in the EU.
Albanians and Macedonians are also divided as to who hinders EU accession.
55% of Macedonians say that the main reason that the country is not becoming an EU member relates to the blockade imposed by neighboring countries, such as Greece and Bulgaria.
But, Albanians think differently, as 48,7% of them believe that the reason relates to the failure to undertake reforms.
The survey has seen the participation of 1 thousand of respondents from all over the country and was carried out by Institute for Democracy and Civil Society in Skopje. The survey was called “Evaluation of the progress of Macedonia in the European integration”. /ibna/
