A serious incident unfolded in Tirana on Friday when a traffic police officer was attacked with a knife while carrying out his duties near Kamza Junction.

According to preliminary information, a man identified as Dorjan Kasa approached the officer from behind and placed a knife against his neck. At the time of the incident, the officer was directing pedestrians across a crosswalk near a shopping center in the area.
The officer later recounted that the attack happened suddenly and that he initially did not recognize the individual, as he had no prior acquaintance with him. Realizing the danger, he reacted immediately and managed to grab the suspect with both hands, preventing what could have become a far more serious incident.
Thanks to the officer’s quick response, the attacker was subdued before he could cause further harm. Police units responded shortly afterward and placed Dorjan Kasa under arrest.
Authorities have stated that the suspect has not provided any explanation regarding his motives, and investigators are still working to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of law enforcement officers, who often face unpredictable situations while performing their duties in public spaces. Investigations remain ongoing as police seek to establish the motive behind the attempted assault and whether additional factors may have contributed to the incident.
