Albania U-14 and North Macedonia U-14 played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the first friendly match between the two sides, held at the “Biljanini Izvori” stadium in Ohrid.
The match offered an early test for both youth teams, with North Macedonia U-14 taking the lead just three minutes into the game through Leis Fakik. Despite the early setback, Albania responded well and gradually grew into the match, showing composure and attacking intent.
The equaliser came in the 21st minute when Rouen Dani found the net, bringing the young Albanian side back on level terms after sustained pressure and improved build-up play.
North Macedonia regained the advantage shortly before half-time, with Nenad Jovanovik scoring in the 43rd minute to make it 2-1 going into the break.
However, Albania U-14 once again demonstrated resilience and fighting spirit in the second half. After continuing to push forward and create chances, they were rewarded late in the match when Ined Radheshi scored in the 80th minute to secure a 2-2 draw.
The starting lineup for Albania, coached by Francesco Vitobello, included Dijon Haxhosaj, Gabriel Haka, Alessio Paloka, Ergi Syziu, Uvejs Kadriu, Roger Mecja, Alfons Marku, Gerald Qirjazi, Rouen Dani, Brajan Hykollari, and Patrik Shurdhaqi.
The match served as an important opportunity for the technical staff to evaluate the development of young players in a competitive international environment, as part of the broader talent development project.
The second friendly between Albania U-14 and North Macedonia U-14 is scheduled for June 19 at 11:00, and will be played at the annex of the “Skënderbeu” stadium in Korçë.
