The Harbour Master’s Office of Sarandë has issued an official notice banning all vessel departures due to deteriorating weather conditions marked by strong winds and unsafe sea conditions.
Under the directive, all boats—including tourist craft, fishing vessels, and small craft—are prohibited from sailing in the waters around Sarandë, Ksamil, and Borsh. The ban came into effect on August 30, 2025 at 06:00 AM and will remain in force until sea conditions improve and a further announcement is issued by the Harbour Master’s Office.
The measure is aimed at ensuring the safety of crews and passengers as strong winds and high waves have made navigation hazardous. Authorities have warned that failure to comply with the restriction will be considered a legal violation with possible penalties under current maritime legislation.
This weather-related navigation ban follows broader trends of similar maritime safety measures in the region, such as recent navigation suspensions in other Adriatic and Ionian coastal areas due to rough seas and strong winds.
