A tragic accident occurred around 1:00 p.m. today on the Egnatia Highway near Komotini, in northeastern Greece, resulting in the deaths of three Albanian nationals.
According to initial reports, the crash took place just before the Iasmos toll station, where vehicles are required to slow down or stop to pay road fees. Two passenger cars had reduced their speed due to a queue forming at the tolls. At that moment, a truck—whose driver allegedly failed to brake for reasons still under investigation—collided forcefully with the cars.
The impact proved fatal for three Albanian citizens who were traveling in the vehicles. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, the victims could not be saved. Greek police have opened an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the accident, including whether technical issues or driver fatigue may have contributed to the truck’s failure to stop.
