The moment when police officer Klajdi Mustaj holds one of the minors in his arms |
“I’ve seen and intervened in many accidents, but last night’s crash really affected me emotionally,” Mustaj recalled. “I’m especially worried about the little boy I pulled from the car. I pray that he recovers quickly.”
Despite being visibly shaken, the 26-year-old officer remained calm and, within seconds, managed to pull all four occupants from the burning vehicle—rescuing the child first.
Mustaj’s act of bravery might have gone unnoticed had it not been captured on video by a bystander. The footage quickly spread across social media, drawing widespread praise.
“This is a battle I want to be part of—a battle against lawlessness, against crime, and in defense of citizens,” he said.
For his actions, the General Director of the State Police, Ilir Proda, awarded Mustaj a Certificate of Distinguished Service. “I thank Mr. Proda for the recognition,” the officer said modestly. “Any police officer would have done the same. This is our duty—to be there when citizens need us.”
Inspector Klajdi Mustaj has been part of the State Police for two years, since graduating from the Professional College for General Patrol. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in law and is currently pursuing his master’s studies.
