Good news for all Albanians who have chosen to live and work in Canada.

An agreement signed recently between our ambassador there, Ermal Muça and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, Chrystia Freeland, solves the problem of recognizing the contributions.

The news was made public with a Facebook post by the Canadian minister himself, posting photos during the signing.

"The social security agreement I signed today with Ermal Muça, the Albanian ambassador to Canada, will help Canadians and Albanians living in both countries have better access to their pensions," she writes.

The signed agreement, by which is expected to benefit some 60,000 Albanian, aims to avoid double coverage for the same period and the unification of security periods in the two countries.

Thereafter, there will be no lost day for all the contributors to the pension scheme.

The final signing of this agreement came after a long period of negotiation for mutual recognition of social security schemes and the drafting of administrative agreements, starting in 2013.
