 At his official visit to Germany, the President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, attended the Annual Conference of German Small and Medium Enterprises in Berlin, where he also held a welcoming speech as an honorary guest.

The annual conference is one of Berlin's most important political and economic activities, attended by over 3,500 prominent German and international personalities of politics, the business world and civil society.

This year except President Meta, spoke also in the main panel the President of the Republic of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar - Kitarovic, also the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, Peter Altmaier.

In his speech Meta praised the strategic partnership and excellent cooperation relations in all areas between the Republic of Albania and the Federal Republic of Germany.

Meta expressed deep gratitude of Germany's financial and technical support for more than 30 years in the most vital fields of the Albanian economy such as teh energy, infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, health, SMEs and vocational education, where the German contribution
 exceeds $ 1 billion, ranking as the most important donor in Albania. During his speech Meta made a breakthrough of potentials in the priority sectors, listing, among other things, some investment opportunities for foreign and German business in particular.

In particular, President Meta invited the German business for investment opportunities in the tourism and energy sector in Albania.

"My sincere and direct invitation is to invite you to Albania not only as tourists to enjoy its extraordinary beauties, but also as potential investors by using your financial capital and managerial expertise in the tourism sector."

"Germany is Europe's leading promoter of 'green economy' and renewable energy. In this context, it is a golden opportunity for German investors to explore and invest in the Albanian and regional energy markets, because the Balkan governments, with the help of foreign donors such as 'KfW', are financing joint projects on the lines transmission and distribution system, as it is aimed at creating a 'regional energy stock exchange' so that new capacities have the posibility to penetrate the European market," said among other things, President Meta.

In conclusion, President Meta underlined that the world is experiencing the era of globalization 4.0, where the digital economy and information technology are the basis of the new model of economic development and where Albania has a lot to learn from the German experience as well. President Meta praised the importance of the presence of German companies in Albania and the region in strengthening the European perspective of our countries.
