Photovoltaic plant over Vau i Dejes Lake, the investment that lowers the cost of energy in Albania

The Albanian Power Corporation (KESH sh.a.) as the largest hydro power producer in the region, has designed to construct a 118,000-square-meter panel over the Lake Vau Dejes, avoiding land occupation and better use of the Sun over the water.

KESH explains that installing a photovoltaic systems is related by high demand for land surfaces, therefore to maximize valuable land and water resources. KESH considers it appropriate to install photovoltaic systems on the water surface of the HPV Vau i Dejes reservoir through this project, which has a number of advantages compared to photovoltaic systems installed on the ground because there are fewer barriers which reduces radiation as well as higher efficiency of electricity generation due to advanced technology that will be implemented.

In addition, aquatic environment benefits due to absorption of sunlight from the panels, this prevent water vapor, limits the growth of algae and improve the quality of water in this reservoir.

The power of this photovoltaic floating photovoltaic plant is projected to be 12.9 Mega Watt.
