The wiretapping scandal / Tirana Police Director suspended from duty   Tirana Court has ruled out to suspend from duty the Director of the State Police, Haki Chaco.

The decision comes after the request of the Prosecutor, who accuses Chaco for illegal wiretapping.

Prosecution Notice:

At the request of the Prosecutor of Tirana, the court has decided  "suspension from duty" for the Director General of Police, Haki Chaco, for the consumption of the offense "misuse of office", following the investigation into allegations of the existence of a listening device, administered in violation of the law by the State Police.

Also at the request of the Prosecutor of Tirana, the court has set the security measure of "Home arrest" with monitoring electronics for citizens Artion Duke, Director of Operational Forces (FO) and Entiol Xhelilaj, specialist at the FO, both suspected of offenses of "abuse of office" and "Actions in obstruction of the truth".

Prosecution of Tirana, within the current investigative actions, suspects that these persons, with their actions or omissions, have allowed unlawful surveillance activity.

Tirana Prosecution investigation is continuing to test whether, after the alleged actions as illegal, are there also other senior officials state.

Tirana Prosecution Unit Task Force has begun investigating mainly on the basis of a procedural material, according to which, the State Police has available a listening device, "IMSI catcher". According to information, this device has entered to the territory of the Republic of Albania without authorization and can realize telephone intercepts.
