Germany to give € 1 billion electric cars buyers

Germany has started in 2016 a stimulus scheme worth of about 1 billion euros to ensure that more customers to buy electric cars while trying to meet the target - to reach to 1 million electric cars by the end of the decade.

The incentive of the costs, similar to those applied to some other European countries, should be equally divided between government and car makers in order to sell an additional of 400,000 electric cars, said the Transport Minister Alexander Dobrindt.

Critics argue that the largest generation of electricity to charge battery-powered cars will increase carbon dioxide emissions. Currently, Germany, the largest car market in Europe, has around 50,000 electric and hybrid car among the 45 million cars in Germany. According to the plans approved previously by government ministers and Volkswagen, Daimler and BMW representatives, electric car buyers will benefit from a 4,000-euro discount, while hybrid car buyers will benefit a 3,000-euro discount.
