Albanian President Meta decides to approve Helidon Bendo finally after one year as head of Intelligence

President Ilir Meta has decreed Helidon Bendo in charge of the State Intelligence Service (SHISH).

This decree comes more than a year after Bendo was proposed by Prime Edi Rama.

From October 31, 2017, the decree is not issued by the President Ilir Meta.

So far, Helidon Bendo was commanded in the direction of the institution of SHISH after the former chief of Albanian Inteligence Visho Ajazi Lika went Albania's Ambassador to NATO.

Albanian President 'held hostage' Bendo for one year not because of his skills and education but - as Meta stressed in media - did not liked the way the former head of the SHISH left.

Clearly that under the cover of the President of Albania, Ilir Meta is playing hard as the chairman of an opposition party, having in mind the refusal of the new Interior Minister Sandër Lleshi by President Meta and the upcoming local elections.

Who Is Helidon Bendo?

He has 21-year experience in SHISH where he held various duties such as: Field Inspector, Branch Director, Director of Directorate in Several Districts of the Country and Director of Directorate at AQ. Mr. Bendo was born on 12 May 1971 in the city of Korça. He is married and has two children.

The head of SHISH is graduated in 1993 for mathematics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, has a master's degree in security studies, as well as a three-month security training at George By's University in USA. His CV has many trainings in the field of security both inside and outside the country. The head of SHISH is a very good speaker of English and Greek languages.

President Ilir Meta kept blocking his decree for 12 months, whereas today Helidon Bendo assumes the powers and authority of the head of the Albanian state to run such an important institution for the country.
