Human trafficker of Butrint Lake tragedy arrested after 10 years

  Fier police has banned one of the Butrint tragedy organizers. Albert Gega, sentenced to 10 years in prison for the criminal offense of "Help for the illegal crossing of borders", he now is arrested after more than 10 years.

Following the implementation of the Operational Plan "On the capture of persons declared wanted" by the services of the Department for Illegal Trafficking in cooperation with the Special Operations Force of Fier, in the village of Kurjan is arrested the citizen declared wanted before: Albert Gega, 36 , resident in the village of Kurjan.

In October 2008, in Lake of Butrint, the citizen Albert Gega in cooperation with 5 other citizens helped to illegally pass in the other side of Butrint Lake aiming then Greece 22 people, five of whom drowned.

The Saranda Court sentenced this citizen by the time to 10 years in prison for the criminal offense "Assistance for the Illegal Crossing of Borders" provided by Article 298 of the Criminal Code.
