Albanian Lion 2018, over 1200 international military troops training in Albania, including Britons and Kosovars

Through a statement, the Ministry of Defense says that for about three weeks the Armed Forces of Albania, Britain, Kosovo and Croatia will use the largest Albanian military bases in the largest international training held in our country. About 1200 troops and dozens of ground, air and sea vehicles will be engaged in the Albanian Lion 2018 exercise, which will take place until September 30.

For the first time in this exercise, which takes place every year in our country, a contingent from the Kosovo Security Force is also participating. Field preparation and movement of vehicles and troops began on September 9, using the most important military bases of Albania, from the naval bases of Kepit të Palit, Pashaliman, Porto Palermo, the Karaburuni peninsula, Rinas air base, Farka, Zall-Herr garrison, and Biza's training region.

The Ministry notes that the purpose of this exercise is the realization of non-military evacuation operations by sea and air, including landing ships, helicopters and special forces for land activities. The first training actions started at the naval base of Kepit të PAlit where the Albanian Commanders, together with the British troops, landed on land with amphibious vehicles and exercised various offensive actions. The next few days the training phases will continue in the other military bases placed at the disposal of this exercise, with the involvement of troops from Kosovo and Croatian divers.
