The National Agency of Protected Areas has killed 261 individuals of the red fox. According to project leaders of PAZA this is the best stage and Albania has the best indicators among the Western Balkan countries where this program is being implemented.
According to the plan, by the end of December this year, 324 red foxes are expected to be killed in Albania.The 39 AdZM employees have been trained to kill the red foxes, they have the appropriate outfits, where the logo of the institution and the program is distinguished.
"This program has health and medical value, as the red fox and other animals are protected from the rabies virus, but also helps in finding a vaccine against the rabies virus. Red Fox is a carrier of the rabies virus and can infect dogs, cats, even the man if infected by them," said the National Agency for Protected Areas.
While we does not have information of where the skins of these red foxes goes, because as may be known, the skin of this kind of foxes cost a lot in the black market.
Some say this is a kind of perfect institutional corruption in coraboration with the mafia of the animals that can bring a lot of money to corrupted officials and the mafia. And for this purpose they have invented a kind of virus to legitimise the killing of these foxes.
