Russian Ambassador's 'provokacia': Kosovo is Serbia and Crimea is Russia

The Russian Ambassador to Belgrade Alexander Chepurin said that the Russia's deeper involvement in the Kosovo issue is possible. Hesaid that Moscow will be on the side of Belgrade.

"Russia and Serbia fully support each other in international organizations regarding the trend of political affairs. A special place here takes the problem of Kosovo, where Belgrade is under the pressure of the traditional enemies of the Serbs," wrote Chepurin in an article on Politico on the occasion of the National Day of the Russian Federation,June 12.

According to him, "Moscow was, is and will be on the side of Belgrade, and that is very worth."

"Our attitude remains unchanged. We will support Serbia and the Serbian people. This assumes a legal basis relating to the Security Council Resolution 1244," the Russian ambassador said.

Chepurin noted that they have been parallels between Kosovo and Crimea recently, but according to him the two countries here are two completely different stories.

"Kosovo broke away from Serbia without respecting the Declaration on UN International Law in 1970, while Crimea has been divided in accordance with the principles of the Declaration," he explains.

He points out that NATO military strike played a jey role in the separation of Kosovo from the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia at that time.

"Crime is Russia and Kosovo is Serbia. It's not just a condition, it's a legal reality to be respected," Chepurin said.
