US donates to Albania drug detection devices worth $ 130,000

 The United States has donated to the Border Police and Customs Administration equipments for detection and inspection as part of the Export Control Program and Border Security.

Through a posting on social networks, the US Embassy says that these devices, worth around $ 130,000, will be used at some of the main border crossing points in Albania.

"One of the main priorities of the Government of Albania, as well as of the United States Government is the fight against organized crime. This includes trafficking of illicit drugs, weapons and human beings as well as the smuggling of goods."

"Yesterday, Ambassador Lu joined the Export Control and Border Security (EXBS) Personnel staff to donate to the Border Police and Customs Administration the equipments for detection and inspection. These devices, worth around $ 130,000, will be used at some of the main border crossing points in Albania. Since its beginnings in Albania in 2003, the EXBS program has provided for the Border Police and Customs Administration training, equipment and support worth about $ 5 million in the framework of efforts to increase  and sophisticate border security capabilities," reads the announcement of the US Embassy.
