Most sought Albanian products in the international market: nuts, hazelnuts, chestnuts, olives...

The Albanian Ministry of Agriculture has conducted an in-depth analysis of the market for potentially-produced agricultural products in the country which are the most wanted in foreign markets, in order to subsidize their growth and production.

Deputy Agriculture Minister Ilirian Halilaj told to Albanian Telegraphyc Agency that there are 15 products, mainly nuts, fruits, vegetables, medicinal plants, which have higher comparative advantages for foreign markets.

He stressed that they have included these products in national support schemes, and have oriented the farmers to apply for planting these products.

Halilaj explains that the applications for subsidies to new crops in agriculture have been completed while the applications for investment in rural sector are continuing. But according to him, within these 15 selected products, which have been put to farmers for subsidies, applications have been numerous and the greatest interest is directed towards the cultivation of apples, nuts, hazelnuts, chestnuts, olives, medicinal plants, which are also the most wanted in the markets.

"Government policies and our focus are on those products that have already established a safe way to be sold in the market and continue to be sought out by new foreign markets, thus transforming into products of economic value to the farmer and the economy of the country. We are working hard to inform and support farmers on the demand-supply of the agricultural market." said Halilaj.
