A € 35 million grant for the rehabilitation of the Tirana-Durrës railway line and the construction of a new line connecting with Rinas Airport.
This is the agreement between Albania and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, approved by the Council of Ministers, aimed at the rehabilitation and modernization of the railway line according to European Union standards.Another important aspect is the construction of the new railway line with Rinas.This project is seen as an 'instrument' that is expected to have economic impact not only in the areas it involves, but across the country.
Part of this project will be the deployment of the train station in the historic site in the capital. The current proposals are that only passenger wagons to come in Tirana, while the goods will remain at Kashar station.
