European Parliament called on five EU countries to recognize Kosovo

The European Parliament has once again called on five EU member states that have not yet recognized Kosovo to do so in order to increase EU credibility.

This call, as many times before, has been repeated by the European Parliament through the Resolution, which was adopted in yesterday's plenary session. Is adopted with 474 votes in favor, 134 against and 64 abstentions. In the adopted report the deputy chair of the European Parliament, Ulrike Lunacek, is also called for the continuation of the dialogue with Belgrade on the implementation of two Left criteria for visa liberalization, combating organized crime and corruption, and Continuation of justice reforms, Kosovo media reports.

The call for the normalization of relations was also sent to Serbia in another resolution that was approved for this state on the same day.

Lunacek after the adoption of this resolution, said today's vote, just days after the elections in Kosovo, sends a strong signal that the future of the Republic of Kosovo is in the European Union.

"First and foremost, this report requires politicians and political parties to quickly form a government in a European spirit and to continue the road to the EU, as well as to move towards visa liberalization that so many citizens of Kosovo deserve," She said.

In the text of the Resolution mentioned the importance of the entry into force of the Stabilization and Association Agreement and the approval that is expected to be a framework agreement for Kosovo's participation in EU programs.

During the debate before the vote on this report, many MPs have also warned about the involvment of Serbia on Kosovo issues, especially through Kosovo Serbs.

They have encouraged representatives of Kosovo Serbs to integrate into Kosovo institutions and operate more independently from Belgrade./Oculus News
