Eduart Lir's paintings of Albania exhibited in Tirana as the latest photos of Egnatia Road

 In Tirana's pedestrian is exhibited a cycle of paintings of Albania of the Englishman Eduart Lir, a part of which has not been published before.

Auron Tare has selected Egnatia's paintings as a message to revitalize this road, which can be considered as its latest photos.

In 1848 Eduart Lir started a trip through Greece to Istanbul.

The trip took a sudden turn because of cholera crash and he continued the journey through Thessaloniki and Manastir.

He traveled to Ohrid, Struga, Elbasan, Tirana, Kruja, Lezha and Shkodra. Returned to Tirana and continued to Kavaja, Berat, Ardenica, Apollonia, Vlora, Himara, Tepelena, Gjirokastra and Ioannina.

Auron Tare says that through 100 paintings of Lir with Albania theme, he has selected the part related to the promotion of of "Egnatia" road project.

"The reason we are making this exhibition is that it can be restored as an important intenerator that can turn tourists areas visited by tourists today," said Tare.

But what linked Lir to our country?

"Lir was related to Albania because he could not leave by sea because of cholera, but he also had an acquaintance with an Albanian woman with whom she co-existed and buried together, so there were also emotional motives," Tare said.

The English poet and painter Eduard Lir (1812-1888) was the first traveler and writer to make a full trip across Albania, South and North./Oculus News
