Albanian Folk clothing photo of 1873

From May to November 1873, a world exhibition was organized in Prater of Vienna Museum (Austria-Hungary), which exceeded in size and splendor the previous exhibitions (London 1851, 1862 and Paris 1855, 1867).

The exhibition is visited by over seven million people. In the framework of the presentation of the Ottoman Empire, part of which was Albania, in Vienna was presented a collection of photographs of folk costumes of the multinational empire.

The picture was still a new phenomenon, and the audience was amazed. This collection was also published as a French book: "Les Costumes populaires de la Turquie en 1873" (Turkey's popular clothing in 1873), Istanbul 1873, this rare volume, which was recently digitized by the Harvard University Library./Oculus News
