26 Jews, who at the time were followed by Germans found shelter for about 2 and a half years in the village of Qarrishtë in Biçaku Mefajilj family. But besides the generosity and hospitality of the master of the house, was the loyalty of the whole village that saved these Jews from death.

It has been many years from now, and Biçaku children and grandchildren have restore contacts with the Israelis, with the initiative of the latter, while proudly tell the story of their old.

"We are proud, not only we, as children, as families, as Village, but also as a state," said Liva Biçaku, Mefajilj daughter.

Years later this generosity brought the persecution of the family by communism.

"Grandpa served 3 years in prison, because he sheltered Jews. They sent him in psychiatry and badly mistreated him," said Elida Azbiu, Biçaku Mefajilj granddaughter.

Qarrishtë Village is mentioned as a village of heroes and guardians of the word, so it is called the "Land of Fidelity".

"Our village has its own history and we are proud that there are two fundamental elements in our features: Manhood, Besa and hospitality," said Mehmet Biçaku, chairman of the association of Qarrishtë.

Biçaku family name is honored in Israel and the US, where victims and survivors of Nazism are remembered.
