Kosovo has been recognized yesterday by the World Football Federation (FIFA). At the FIFA Congress held in Mexico, Kosovo received 141 votes, enough of these to its acceptance as the 210 th member of the largest football home in the world.
This is another historic day for Kosovo football after 3 May 2016, when Kosovo was accepted by the majority of the European Football Federation (UEFA) during the 40th Congress in Budapest, Hungary.
Before the vote on the admission of Kosovo to FIFA, spoke also the President of the Football Federation of Kosovo (FFK), Fadil Vokrri. During his speech he said that the acceptance of KFF in FIFA is completely legitimate."I want to thank FIFA Council, which recommended the Congress to decide to accept KFF in FIFA, so to take part in World Cup qualifications" said Mr. Vokrri.
"FFK was established in 1946 and as such has organized regular championships. We played friendly recommended by FIFA, with teams like Senegal and Turkey. I want to thank all the federations who have agreed to play friendly with us," he said.
According Vokrri "This is another step fprward, as Kosovo is recognized by the International Olympic Committee and many other federations"
"Today's vote will affect the reconciliation with our neighbors. Acceptance of KFF in FIFA, is completely legitimate" he said shortly before voting.
After this god news celebrations began in Kosovo, while the Football Federation of Kosovo, with many journalists celebrated in a hotel on the outskirts of the capital of Kosovo.
