Refugees in Greece block highway connecting Greece and Macedonia

At the Greek town, Polikastro, were are located over two thousand refugees from yesterday evening, they have blocked the main highway connecting Greece and Macedonia, as a result of which communication takes place with difficulty.

Hundreds of refugees have managed to set up their tents on the highway, where they cook food and sleep. They say will not leave the highway until the border opens and they continue to proceed to countries of Western Europe.

Polikastro is located about 20 kilometers from the Greek-Macedonian border point and compared with Idomeni camp, humanitarian organizations enable refugees here all the basic necessities for living. From Greek-Macedonian border in Thessaloniki,  in fuel stations alongside the road are located thousands of refugees housed in tents while only in Idomeni are about 12 thousand.

Greek authorities have announced that from tomorrow will begin deporting of refugees and immigrants who had passed illegally through Turkey, but refugees hope that one day the borders will be opened and they refuse to return back to Turkey.
