Municipality of Tirana - Full Member of Metropolitan Authorities of Europe

 The Municipality of Tirana from today is a member of Metropolitan Authorities of Europe and will be aided by the Municipality of Turin for three key areas related to the development of the city. 

During his official visit to Italy, where he is attending the proceedings of the Conference of the metropolitan authorities in Europe, the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, met with counterpart of Turin, Piero Fassino and signed a bilateral cooperation agreement between two cities.

The agreement signed today by the mayors Veliaj and Fassino provides cooperation in three key areas, in economic and trade, cultural and academic. Through the agreement, the parties pledge to support and promote cooperation between enterprises of the respective cities in terms of economic development and trade. Also, culture is regarded as a good point of cooperation between Turin and Tirana, where the parties pledge to promote and implement activities that support cultural cooperation between Albanian Cultural Centre in Turin and respective cultural institutions of both cities.

On the other hand, Veliaj and Fassino agreed for academic cooperation and promote friendship at the international level, encouraging and developing intercultural activities for students coming from Turin and Tirana. The agreement provides for the exchange of experience between students and university research organizations dedicated to both cities.

Mayor Veliaj stands in Torino to participate in the conference of Metropolitan Authorities of Europe, which this year is chaired by the Mayor of Turin, Piero Fassino. In this organization are also members some of the largest cities in Europe, such as Barcelona, Paris, Berlin, Milan, Turin, Oslo etc.
