The meeting of "Gymnich" format,  is an informal meeting where 28 European ministers talk openly without the presence of diplomats and their respective advisers on key issues of foreign policy and EU security.

Johannes Hahn, the EU commissioner for Good Neighborly and Negotiations of Membership, in this meeting said that "without strengthening our external borders, without showing that we are able to control our outer border, we always will encounter problems within Europe."

Refugee crisis and the consequences for the security of the EU were the focus of the round table of Amsterdam. Where Dutch Presidency gathered foreign ministers of the member states and EU candidate, reports T.Ch.

They agreed that the reinforced cooperation of recent months with Balikanit countries and Turkey should be used for the consolidation of integration reforms and their advancing towards EU.

"European integration of these countries, especially Western Balkans (Albania, Montenegro, Serbia. Macedonia), but also Turkey,  contains an added value with them, because we need common policies and common tools to cope and manage a phenomenon that belongs to all of us," said Federica Mogherini, High Representative of EU.

This marks the first meeting of this format for this year. The same theme marked also two informal meetings of 2015.
