Macedonia Closes the Border, Thousands of migrants Blocked

Thousands of migrants and refugees are trapped near Athens and in Northern border of Greece, after Macedonians does not allow Afghans to enter its territory.

About 5,000 people are located at the border and 4,000 more have reached the port of Piraeus, Athens.

Macedonias say that will allow only Syrians and Iraqis to enter in its territory, Macedonian media reports.

Meanwhile Greece has opposed this decision, but Macedonian authorities say that Afghans are not allowed even from other countries.

Last week, Austria has imposed a daily limit and accepts only 80 requests for asylum.

Although EU officials have said that Austria's decision is not in accordance with the humanitarian and human rights conventions, the Balkan countries have started to implement their limitations.

Last year, only in Germany have reached over 1.1 million migrants. Most of them came from Turkey to Greece and continuing to other countries of  EU.

After the Syrians, Afghans constitute the largest number of peoples seeking asylum in the EU in 2015.
