"Special Civil Merit" medal to Italian Ambassador by Albanian's President

 The President of Republic Bujar Nishani conferred a medal for “Special civil merit” on the outgoing Italian Ambassador Massimo Gaiani in recognition of his precious contribution through diplomatic activities to the all-round progress of the bilateral relations and successful implementation of the strategic partnership between the Republic of Albania and the Republic of Italy, for the support to our country’s European integration, contribution towards the advancement of the key reforms, including the fight against organized crime and the judiciary reform.

The medal, the highest civil honor in Albania, was presented Thursday at the Presidential Palace during a solemn ceremony which was also attended by Albanian parliament members and other state officials.

In his address, the Head of State said “this is a special ceremony to express gratitude to Italian Ambassador, a good friend of Albanians, who in four years of his diplomatic tenure, through an ambitious and very active diplomatic agenda, succeeded in making the bilateral relations more dynamic.”

Praising the successful personal and professional contribution of the Italian Ambassador, the Head of State said: “During his stay in Albania, Ambassador Gaiani created the profile of a good friend and of a professional diplomat. His engagement is multifaceted, ranging from traditional diplomatic relations to the economic diplomacy. Ambassador Gaiani’s role and activities accurately reflect the level of relations between our two countries, which are historical and very special.”
